Self care for empaths, HSP and other spiritual folk

Empath, HSP and other sensitives can have a lot on their plate most days. During more turbulent times (like eclipses, retrogrades, political events, etc), that affect the whole collective, self-care can be an even greater challenge.

With such collective events it feels to me, as if there is loads of negative energies being shaken loose from the collective/ and or entering through portals that open up. Those energies might float about for a while, until safely disposed. and they might seek out lighter individuals, such as empaths (to use as a channel back into Light(?)). Plus, depending on where we are with our own self-development/ how much cleansing we have done, there might be increased amounts of old stuff bubbling up, asking to be dealt with….
With plenty of energies flying about, it is good to make sure one is maxing out one’s potential for self-healing, protections, etc... Many of you will know most of these. Potential tools are:

- Grounding and or Earthing (see files section for more details). Earth is big enough to take on our crap energies. She recycles them, or sends them on...Plus we can get healthy energies back to help us recharge (and or on the physical level - negative ions)
- Maximize spiritual help! Some folk restrict the help they allow for themselves by e.g. believing they are allowed one guardian angel, and maybe a power animal. With large scale events it might need armies of angels though. I do feel that for each negative energy, that might disaffect us, or our lives, there is an abundance of helpers to take care of them. I.e. if you have not already, send out a prayer, and let the Divine know, that they are allowed to help you unrestricted, to diminish suffering - as much as necessary, possible, available and sensible!
- Meditation. There are various forms here too. If you have a busy mind, perhaps try mantras, or guided meditations. There is plenty of guided meditations, et.al. on YouTube, Apps (e.g. HeadSpace). Others might walk, bake or knit, i.e. do activities that help them clear their mind....
- Smudging! Smudging is burning incense, and or herbs (sage, pine, sweet grass, etc) to clear energies in your more immediate environment, such as your home. Smudging smoke is said to be inter-dimensional, take up neg energies and take them with into another healing dimension...
- Healing rocks and crystals. Some rocks and crystals can help protect, clear, heal and or ground us. Have a google for healing rocks and crystals and see if any of them speak to you. Rocks/ crystals do not have to cost the world. Hematite e.g. is a great grounding stone, that is relatively inexpensive. Or some people just find rocks in nature that speak to them. And if you ask them, if they want to come home with you, and they seem to agree, take them with.... During turbulent times your rocks might need more cleansing/ clearing too. There is varies forms, such putting them in sun and or moon light. Burying them. Saying healing prayers for them, washing them (make sure that they are allowed to be washed. Selenite e.g. does not like water, and can go dull), etc.
- try to eat healthy. Try to get your min 5 a day fruit and or veg....
- Consider supplements. Personally, I need loads of Vit D3 (else my energy slumps considerably). A great flu remedy (be it viral or energetic) is vitamin C. Taking loads of vit C usually helps me get over flu symptoms, be they physical, or energetic, within 1-3 days Supplements can be individual, Others might e.g. need more magnesium. (the science of working with vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, is called functional or orthomolecular medicine). Others do great with homeopathics, herbal remedies, etc. It might take some reading and experimenting to find your tipple. There is loads of stuff on the internet. There is Facebook groups, etc. Just be aware that some can be a bit cultish. I.e. groups where the leader is elevated to a demi god status, and questioning any of his/ her teachings might get you kicked out... ;)
- Try to come together and support each other. There is e.g. Facebook groups, and some cities e.g. have MeetUp groups for empaths. Or doing meditation/ mindfulness classes, yoga, sound healing workshops, etc can be great for self-care (if run well), and they will often attract more sensitive and awake folk....
- Some folk find relieve walking in nature.
- Salt baths are said to help clear one’s energies. if you only have shower, you can put some salt solution in a spray bottle and spray yourself, before showering...
